July 14, 2008 -

Blackburn Taekwon-Do has begun production of a new and improved website to better serve you.  The site will have new features such as:

 

- A Fundamental Arm and Hand Exercises Page

(detailed description of the exercises for each belt level with pictures) 

 

- A Kicking Drill & Kicking Combination Page

(detailed descriptions of the kicks and kicking combinations for each level)

 

- Improved Pattern Videos & Directions

(2-different views of each tul & a more detailed description of the movements)

 

- Improved functionability & practicality

(the site will be better laid out in order to find the information you require)

 

- All forms, schedules ect for download

(download all forms, schedules and poster in PDF format)

 

- Updated Black Belt Profiles

(new pictures and updated profiles on our black belts)

 

- Revused and NEW Step Sparring

(more detailed explanation on current step sparring numbers as well as NEW ADDITIONS to the Step Sparring Family, #7, #8, #9 & #10 for 3 / 2 / 1 Step Sparring.  We are also introducing Model Sparring, which is for black belt levels)

 

- Drills for Free Sparring

(we will have some drills and some videos which will give you some ideas for free sparring to help expand your knowledge and confidence)

 

This site is expected to be launched on August 15, 2008.  If you have any suggestions of things you would like to see on the site, please email us and we would be happy to look into it!

June 30, 2008 -

On Saturday, June 28, 2008, Blackburn Taekwon-Do hosted a small and friendly Ottawa based tournament.  There were 32 competitors from 4-Dojangs.  Click here to see some of the pictures from this event.

May 13, 2008 -

During the last week several students participated in a series of promotion tests (at Catherine Street Location & the Main School in Blackburn Hamlet).  Click here to see their results. 

 

April 21, 2008 -

20 students from Blackburn Taekwon-Do represented Ontario on Saturday, April 19 in the 2008 CAN-AMERICAN Championship.  Click here to see their results.  Click here to see photos from the tournament.

April 16, 2008 -

2-Students from Blackburn Taekwon-Do applied in their next promotion test and passed to the next level.  Click here for details.

 

20-Members from Blackburn Taekwon-Do will be competing this weekend at the 2008 CAN-AM Championships in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec.  Click here for details.

March 15, 2008 -

Today 6-students from the Main School in Blackburn Hamlet participated in the monthly promotion grading.  Click here to see their results.

March 11, 2008 -

16 Students from Blackburn Taekwon-Do competed at the 2008 Eastern Canadian Championships.  Click here to see the results.

 

We are also encouraging all students who would like to join our new competition team to attend an information meeting this week about the 5-week training program for the CAN-AM Championships.  The meeting will take place at the Dojang in Blackburn Hamlet on Saturday, March 15, 2008 from 1:30 to 2:15 PM.

March 3, 2008 -

On Saturday, March 1, Mr. Steven LeGrow supervised a promotion testing for 5-successful candidates and taught a Taekwon-Do Workshop for 28-students featuring work on conditioning and Sine Wave with the assistance Mr. Clement Goh (2nd Degree from Blackburn TKD). 

 

This grading and workshop took place at Friendly City Taekwon-Do in the small, beautiful town of Woodstock, Ontario.  The event was hosted by Mr. Don Edmiston (3rd Degree Black Belt and Head instructor of Friendly City Taekwon-Do).  Click here to see the pictures from the event.

February 29, 2008 -

We have confirmed that Blackburn Taekwon-Do will host a Specialty Seminar with Master Pierre Laquerre (7th Degree Black Belt & the Technical Director of the Canadian Taekwon-Do Federation) on May 3rd, 2008 at Ashbury College.

 

Master Laquerre has been actively involved in ITF Taekwon-Do in Canada occpupying many positions since the 1980's.  This will be an Amazing Seminar and we hope that all members yellow belt and up will take part!  Click here for more details.

February 25, 2008 -

On the week of February 18 - 22, 2008, Blackburn Taekwon-Do Ltd. held a series of Promotion Tests including a Red Belt & Up Promotion Test on Saturday, February 23.  We are proud to announce the following promotions:

 

Matthieu Trudel - promoted to the level of 1st Degree Black Belt

Brendan Maher - promoted to the level of 1st Degree Black Belt

February 20, 2008 -

We are now accepting applications for the March Break Day Camp.  This Day Camp will be dedicated to helping our members achieve better technique and earn a lot of hours towards their next level.
